How to Get Started As an EFT Coach – A Simple Confidence Building Approach
Okay, so you love EFT, you’ve had great results yourself, so great in fact that you took the next step and got a certificate. Yay, you’re a coach! Now all you need is some clients or people willing to pay you for your woo woo services, right? How do you go about building your credibility and getting testimonials before really marketing yourself?
Here’s a quick, low cost way. First, go to Meetup.com and join as a member, it’s free http://www.meetup.com/register/ then do a search for EFT or Law of Attraction Meetup groups in your area and see if there are any already being offered. This will work for any type of service business, by the way.
If there are no groups at present, Meetup will notify you if there are people looking for groups like that (their data base keeps track of all the searches) and will tell you how many people that are currently waiting for someone to step up and organize one. If this is the case and there is a large demand for the type of group you want to start, sign up as organizer of the group by creating an account.
Something to consider before you sign up as organizer is a place to meet. I would discourage having it at your home, so you may wish to approach your local church and offer a portion of the fee as a donation or keep them low enough that you can just cover costs and set it up as nonprofit. You can do some research on this on Meetup to see what other groups are offering and charging. Some will have heavier fees if meetings are held in places like hotels and offices. If you have an office even better. The other option is a coffee shop or Chapters and if this is embarrassing then you have something for your group to start tapping on!
Once you have a location figured out go to www.meetup.com to get the details on becoming an organizer and create your account. There is a fee for this service but its well worth the small investment. They have 3 price plans to choose from and the most expensive one is $20 per month. This allows you to automate notices, welcomes, reminders, RSVP, etc. It’s great.
Start by choosing a topic and here’s a tip: Law of Attraction is hugely popular right now and we all know how great EFT is for dissolving resistance to it, but do go ahead and do your own research in your local area.
Next give your Meetup group a catchy name that appeals to the types of people you wish to target as your practice group. This is a REALLY important step. Take your time with this. Know who your ideal client is, for example if you know you want to work with upbeat, motivated people that are perhaps dealing with some financial stress pick a title like Secrets to Prosperity Meetup Group or Stress Less to Launch Success Meetup Group or something like that especially if it’s under the LOA topic, you get the picture.
This title is to attract attention, then in your Group description you can elaborate more on the techniques you share to help them over come blocks in this area. Keep it up beat though, unless your focus is working with troubled teens or people suffering with depression, but figure out who you want to work with.
Once you’ve got your group topic and title then go in and create a catchy description for your group emphasizing benefits, upload a temporary picture until you can get a group photo, it helps to upload a photo of you too, it makes it more personal.
Keep membership to your group free, but do charge a nominal fee for your group members to pay at the door. I would suggest $5-$10, if you are doing it on your own, if you have a co-organizer (another EFT coach) you need to consider you will have to split the fee and you want to make sure you are getting something for your time and the benefits people will receive from your coaching, even though that’s not your main focus.
Once you have your group page set up, you’re ready to pick the date and time for your first Meetup and how often you want to meet. Make it a couple of weeks from now, you need to give people a chance to know you’re group is out there. Be sure to go into the Meetup organizers help section, it’s great for suggestions on how to market, organize and run a successful meetup.
You will get notifications as new members join and also when they rsvp. It’s a good idea to send individualized messages at first to welcome them and get to know you.
Be sure to conduct your first Meetup in a professional but relaxed way. Introduce yourself and tell them about yourself and what you will be doing. Give a brief introduction to EFT and show them the points to build credibility in what you do and that they see you as the professional, but most of all keep it warm and fun. Be mindful of the time, so you don’t go longer than you stated on your calendar.
Even if you only have one person attend your first one (I’m speaking from experience), don’t get discouraged, they’ll come as your group gains popularity and people get results and post their comments. As you gain confidence, let them know you are available for private coaching and as you develop friendships and they get results, ask for permission to use their testimonials or better yet have them write one of their own and ask permission to post it on your website as well.
Meetup is a great, fast, inexpensive way to get your feet wet, meet new people with like minds and build your confidence while truly helping people.
